Alek Jeziorek Therapy
Live with greater freedom, understanding, and connection
Alek Jeziorek
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist # 150704
I’m a warm, smart, highly engaged and attuned therapist, who strives to understand your experience as you live and understand it. Through our therapeutic relationship, we’ll awaken your innate capacity to heal—to understand yourself better, to feel more free and connected to yourself and others. Ultimately, my hope is that our therapy will transform your suffering - not by asking you to be other than you are, but by helping you to become more yourself.
I work with adults, couples, and families on issues like, but not limited to:
childhood trauma and neglect, and recent trauma or crises
personal or relational patterns that seem to repeat
anxiety, depression, feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed
low self-esteem
relationship problems
life transitions
grief and mourning, and more
I also specialize in working with people who identify as creative – designers, academics, writers, musicians, and artists. I have a Ph. D. in English from UC Berkeley and a deep intimacy with the personal obstacles that we encounter in creative processes.
I work relationally, using both psychodynamic and Gestalt therapies. I love the psychodynamic approach because it offers us a way to deeply experience how past family, childhood, and trauma experiences inform how you’ve come to live, survive, and thrive in the world. And I love Gestalt because it attunes us to the present moment, where we most immediately experience our sometimes painful patterns and gain access to greater possibilities.
Individual Therapy
If life is like embarking on a row boat into the ocean—at times calm or rough or anything between—then I am sitting in the boat with you. Helping you navigate to port or marveling at the terrible power of the sea, being with you in your suffering or celebrating your joys. I am confident that we can unlock your innate capacity to heal, to be fully enlivened and authentic.
Couples Therapy
I empower couples to foster greater “contact,” the meeting of two people in their authenticity, truth, and vulnerability. There, we’ll work together to build intimacy, compassion, empathy, and a relationship that leaves no one out. In the process, we’ll interrupt the painful dynamics that cause you suffering in your relationship and create novel ways to connect and love one another. I work with and invite all couples and relationship issues.
